Stains 101

Oh no! You spilt something on your favourite shirt two weeks ago and completely forgot about it! Now it’s ruined 😦

Never fear! We’ve put together a stain removal guide for TOP 5 STAINS you’re likely to encounter as a young home-leaver. It’s very important to treat stains properly otherwise you may make it worse. So follow these steps and you won’t need to send your washing home to Mum anymore!

COFFEE: Rinse, soak for at least 30mins in cold water (3L) and liquid laundry detergent (1tblsp), apply pre-wash stain remover (such as Wondersoap), wash in the hottest water possible.

BEER & WINE: Soak in cold water for at least 30mins (for red wine some suggest to soak in white wine or milk), treat with pre-wash stain remover, wash in the hottest water possible (add either chlorine bleach [if safe] or colour-safe bleach to wash for a particularly tough stain).

OIL: Rub a small amount of hand dishwashing soap onto the fabric, rinse, treat with pre-wash stain removed, wash in the hottest water possible (hot water is vital for removing oil stains)

BLOOD: Do not rinse with hot water! This will only set the stain. Soak in cold water with laundry detergent (or Napisan Powder) for at least 30mins, treat with a pre-wash stain remover, wash as per normal.

SWEAT: Apply white vinegar to stain and leave for 30mins, rinse, apply pre-wash stain remover, wash in the hottest water possible.

There you go! We used Stain Removal 101 for a lot of this info so check it out for any further stain removal queries.

Love,
FTC xx
